I grew up in Brooklyn before it became the center of the universe, and I’ve lived in Israel, China, and Seattle, my favorite! I love shopping in local markets, learning new ways to cook, and entertaining guests. My latest kitchen adventures are in mixology, concocting craft cocktails for every occasion.
Ever since grade school matched me with an Australian pen pal, writing has been a big part of my personal life. It’s really paid off - over a five-year correspondence, my husband and I fell in love from across the ocean.
I write about current events, physician wellness, food, wine, travel, and growing up as the daughter of Holocaust survivors. My current project is a book, Behind the White Coat: The Hidden Lives of Residents and Fellows, to be followed by a memoir with the working title, How We Fell in Love and What We Ate.
As the Amtrak Empire Builder moseyed up the westernmost side of Seattle, I tried mimicking its sound. Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta, ta-ta-ta-ta-ta, ta-ta-ta-ta-ta. My tongue hit the roof of my mouth, closely matching the noise of the slowly moving train. Departing exactly on schedule at 4:55 pm, we glided past the Smith and Columbia Towers, reaching the Olympic Sculpture Park moments after 5:00.
